Gauthier & Arab League
The Gauthier, Lusitania and Arab League districts are emblematic districts of downtown CasablancaThere are beautiful buildings built from the 1920s onwards, some private mansions, beautiful villas, foreign consulates, schools and, above all, a series of synagogues.
Indeed, in these districts between Place de Verdun, Boulevard d'Anfa and Sacré-Cœur, there has been a large Jewish-Moroccan community Westernized, originally from Tangier or Tetouan. She takes up residence near the main synagogues and Jewish institutions of the city, Rue Lusitania and Rue Lacepède: the Cercle de l'Alliance Israélite Universelle, the Em-Habanim synagogue, the Tefila Lémoshé synagogue and the Bennarosh synagogue.
The Gauthier district is a residential and office area. Often considered the quintessential bobo district, it has many cafes and restaurants and is particularly lively at the end of the day. It is also a cultural crossroads that houses the Villa des Arts, the Slaoui Foundation, the Fédération des Œuvres Laïques and several art galleries.
The Arab League Park itself constitutes the green lung of Casablanca. More than just a park, this emblem of the city extends over 35 hectares nestled in the heart of the metropolis. Formerly called "Parc Lyautey", it was designed by urban planner Albert Laprade and landscape architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. This legendary park shines into life through the Boulevard Moulay Youssef, a veritable green corridor lined with palm trees and ficus trees.
Let's go together to wander through its alleys and discover its history with CitizOn.
